Jason has a first cousin once removed who has a son who has a wife that I just love, and sometimes when she and her husband go out of town they ask me to take care of their lovebird, Pete. I always accept, but I have to confess that I'm still terribly frightened of birds. I just don't like them flying at me, and I don't want them on my hands or crawling on my shoulder or pecking at my ear. Jason saves me everytime. He takes the bird into the other room while I lock myself in the bathroom to put food and water in its cage. I let the two of them play for awhile and then I call out behind the door, "Are you done?" And he says, "Yes." And so we quickly trade places before the bird flies at me and I close the bathroom door on them and he puts Pete back in its cage and then we repeat the process in another couple days. My sweet, patient husband. Luckily he's good with animals and kids...and numbers:)
