She Came...

(This is me happy as a bee when I first arrived at the hospital)
3:09 am -- Wake up to pain that I'm not sure is contractions. I get up and do things around the house to see if they will go away.
4:30 am -- I take videos back to the library. They are still coming at regular intervals but varying pain levels.
5:09 am -- I call the doctor to report and he said to go to the hospital.
6:45 am -- I arrive at the hospital and they say I'm dilated to a 6 and suggest going without an epidural since I made it so far with not too much pain.
6:47 am -- I tell them I want an epidural because it could only get worse from here.
7:30 am -- My doctor comes in and gets anesthesiologist to get me an epidural.
8:00 am -- The epidural is only working on my left side.
8:30 am -- The anesthesiologist gives me medication that helps numb the pain on my right side.
8:45 - 10 am -- I am in heaven. Very little pain.
10:10 am -- The nurses and doctor tell me to begin pushing.
10:45 am -- The nurse takes me off the pain medication because she says it will speed up the pushing.
11 am -- Lots of pain because the pain medication has worn off. I didn't realize the pushing part would take so long.
12:00 pm -- The doctor comes in and asks why the nurse took me off the pain medication and he gets the anesthesiologist to put me back on it.
12 pm - 12:43 -- Doctor does everything he can to help get Lily out. He finally uses a vacuum with only a gentle tug and SHE CAME! What a little miracle.
Baby Lily weighed in at 6 lbs. 4 oz. Check out her umbilical cord. The doctors and nurses were very impressed that it was tied in a knot. They saved it for a resident to see. Quite the acrobat, our little Lily!
This is me after the ordeal. I was so drained that I couldn't even hold Lily.

Luckily Grandma and Daddy were there to give Lily lots of love until I could recuperate.
