First on
vanity...I went to the eye doctor recently. I thought it was about time. It had been about 10 years since I'd been to one, and during my pregnancy, it got harder for me to see things on the blackboard. So, when I went, I was pretty surprised to hear that my vision hadn't changed much in 10 years. Then the doctor began telling me when I should wear my eyeglasses (I've never had a doctor do this before)...for night driving, for reading things far away, when I get headaches. He said that I don't need to wear them all the time because that could cause my vision to get worse if I started depending on the glasses. All these years I thought I might be ruining my vision for being so vain to only wear them when I absolutely had to. But I guess
vanity pays off sometimes.
By the way, I put another poll (akin to the one I used when I bought our blue camera...some of you might remember it who have been dedicated followers of my blog for four years now) on the side of my blog if you'd like to vote on whether you like my new glasses. I'll post better pictures. This one isn't my favorite. But now I like my glasses so much I want to wear them more:)

Now on being
advanced. We recently ate dinner with some friends who now have two children. The husband was talking about how he used to use the word "advanced" to describe all the "amazing" things his first child was doing. That description cracked me up, for some reason, so I've been using it ever since to describe Lily. Check out how "advanced" this little girl is. The above picture was taken during a routine feeding. She put her hand in her pocket all by herself.
Advanced!
Talk about
advanced. She doesn't even need soap to make these "bubble beards." That's right, that is her own saliva.

I was very impressed with this one. Jason was laughing at how amazed I was at it.

Finally, this is how we started on our way to Costco last week. I put her hat on top of her head.
Nothing unusual about that, correct?

Well, when we came back home, and I uncovered the blanket over her car seat, her hat was in this exact position. She had taken it off and put it right by her side on the trip home. I could only think of one word for this scenario...you guessed it:
advanced.

And finally on
Costco. Our Relief Society is putting on a birthday celebration for the Relief Society. Their theme is "Our Sister's Hands" and they asked us to take a picture of our hands doing something. I won't even be able to make it to the event, but that's not why I posted the picture. I just wanted to show off the
orchid behind my hands that Lily and I bought at Costco. I've been wanting one for a long time. They are so beautiful, and I
felt pretty overwhelmed taking her to the grocery store by myself, so I thought we'd celebrate the event.
Just to keep the record straight, however, Lily is now my favorite flower.

Wow, Ash! You must be a really terrific mother to have such an advanced baby. I agree with your assessment of Lily's abilities--she is absolutely advanced!
P.S. The next time you go to Costco you should try giving Lily her own churro--that might help curb her advanced hat hiding skills.
Oh Ash, I love this post. It is so perfectly you and your little "advanced Lily" is about the cutest thing in the world. And she is advanced-my kids have never blown bubble beards.
She is advanced. YOu are so great.
