Grandmas and Beaches and Art, Oh My!
Grandma Jan came to visit for almost a month! Our first stop was a rose garden close to our house.
We then took Lily to a Monet Water Lily art exhibit in Hartford. It was beautiful! Some of the patrons commented that Lily was the most beautiful "live exhibit" there:)
Then Grandma Jan babysat Lily so we could go on a little date to see Yo-Yo Ma. I'm not going to lie, though, it was raining, so we really didn't "see" him very well, and he didn't play anything we recognized, so it was slightly disappointing. But still relatively cool that we got to see him for free and literally down the road from us.
What is that Lily doing in a bed of roses? Silly Lily!
We later went to The Metropolitan Museum of Art. We had a fundraiser in our church and I bid on the chance to get a tour of the museum with a lady from our church who used to be a curator for a museum. I was the highest bidder, and was thrilled that my mother and Jason could go with me! Lily also accompanied us and was so good.
Do you see the beautiful stained glass windows behind us? They are Tiffany stained glass windows and the one in the middle is the View of Oyster Bay and has this beautiful purple vine called Wisteria in it. We've seen Wisteria out here and I've fallen in love with it. It is GORGEOUS!
Then my wonderful missionary companion Elise came and visited us for a day and a couple nights. Luckily she loves art, too, so we decided to visit an art Museum in New Britain. Lily is becoming quite the connoisseur of art!
We also visited one of my mom's old high school friends who lives in Manhattan. This was Lily's first time riding the train into the city. It's actually the perfect way to go because she can be out of her car seat and honestly didn't fuss at all...only for food. And you guessed it, we visited another art museum called The Frick. Lily wasn't allowed - not until she is 10- so we hung out in the lobby and took turns looking at the art and looking at Lily.
This was supposed to be earlier in the post. It is outside of The Met.
We had to take Grandma to a beach. Jason also accompanied us!
Jason caught the cutest smile on Lily's face.
Another darling Lily expression when she is making her crazy screams/sounds.
And how perfect, Lilies started blooming before my mom left. I assigned Jason the task of getting a beautiful Lily picture to put in her room. He never disappoints.
This should have been earlier in the post, but it is proof that Grandma Jan was with us at Lighthouse Point Beach. Appropriately named, right?

I heart your mom. She's wonderful. I'm so glad you had such a great visit with her!
How are you?! Lily is so cute and getting bigger, as one does with age.
